Eugene Warren Harwood

Eugene Warren Harwood, a kind, gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus April 17, 2016, surrounded by his family. Eugene was born September 27, 1927 in Sturgis, South Dakota to Lee W. Harwood and Zena Priest. He married his sweetheart Joyce on November 14, 1949, who passed away May 21, 2011. He was loved by all and will be remembered for his quick wit and charm. Eugene had a whimsical way about him that drew people to him. Each granddaughter was lovingly referred to as "his beautiful granddaughter" and the grandsons were taught that safe driving should never be taken for granted. As a long-haul truck driver for Garrett/ANR Freight for over 35 years, he drove over 4 million accident free miles! Survived by Kenneth Harwood (Robyn); daughters, Janet Crowe (Kevin), Patty Horton (Steve), Julie VanEtten (Robert); 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m., prior to services.
