Evans Thomas Doxey (Tim), our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 8, 2015 in West Valley City, Utah while surrounded by his loving family. Tim was born on October 8, 1931 to Lawrence Watkins and Ines Maud Doxey in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from Cyprus High School, he served as an LDS missionary in the Southern California Mission. While attending LDS Business College, Tim met and fell in love with Marlene Leary. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24, 1954 and spent the next 61 years creating an amazing life together. Right after getting married, Tim and Marlene moved to Panama where he was stationed as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge from the military, Tim continued his studies at the University of Utah and began working for the Salt Lake City Water Department and Public Utilities. Over the next four decades, Tim excelled in his career serving in many positions including Deputy Director of Public Utilities. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Central Water Conservancy District. Tim loved his family more than anything and loved serving them and others. He enjoyed frequent gatherings, dinners, socials, and family vacations at Hebgen Lake, Montana. He also enjoyed working on his farm, spending time in the outdoors, and tinkering with tractors and machines. Anytime his skills or abilities could benefit someone in need, he was there to lend a helping hand and a smile. He was an extraordinary example of leadership and service. Tim served as a Bishop of the Hunter 1st Ward for 9 years and as Stake President of the Hunter West and Hunter Central Stakes for 11 years. He then served as a Stake Patriarch for 16 years. He had a deep love and testimony of Jesus Christ and did everything he could to live a Christlike life. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Lori (Mark) Austin, Scott (Sandy) Doxey, Jill (Dave) Shopay, Tim (Aliesha) Doxey, Brett (Alexis) Doxey; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2015, 11:00 a.m., in the Salt Lake Central Stake Center, 3930 South 6000 West, West Valley City, UT. Viewings will be held Sunday, December 13th, 6-8:00 p.m. at the LDS CHURCH HUNTER PARK BUILDING, 3665 South 6000 West, and Monday, December 14th, 10-10:45 a.m. at the Salt Lake Central Stake Center prior to services.
