Ferris Rae Norman 1924 ~ 2012 Ferris Rae Allred Norman was born 15 February 1924 to Samuel Bert & Myrtle Livingston Allred at Spring City, Utah. She was raised in a small town atmosphere full of love, fun, hard work, and challenges. She married Ted Elwood Norman on 18 August 1941 in Preston, Idaho. They were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on 15 November 1997. She went to work while Ted was serving in World War II in a parachute plant to help with the war effort and remained in the work force most of her life. She retired in the 1980 s from Valley Bank & Trust as a bank officer, one of the first women to be granted that position in the Valley Bank system. Her greatest joys came in those precious moments with family and friends and her deepest regrets came when family and friends were not around. She never graduated from high school and realizing that was a mistake made sure her children graduated from college. She continued that encouragement with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She kept her home clean for company whenever anyone would stop by and did not allow brown spots to survive in her lawn. She passed away on December 27, 2012 in Heber City, Utah after a very short battle with cancer that was not diagnosed until within days of her passing. She was active, alert, and doing for herself right up to being hit with back pain just three weeks ago. Her day s activity included driving herself to Wal Mart and walking for 45 minutes while hanging on to the shopping cart. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints attending each Sunday until she could not get out of bed because of the pain. She was working as a visiting teaching supervisor and was a devoted visiting teacher. Her last act in that capacity was to make sure her sisters were visited and given a Christmas treat even though she was not able to make the visits herself. Her favorite Relief Society activity was a crochet class attended by several of the sisters. She wore out a lot of yarn crocheting and undoing because it wasn t just right. We are not sure she ever completed a project but she loved the association with the sisters in the ward. We are grateful for all those who took time to assist her in completing tasks she had a difficult time doing for herself and for all those who gave her the gift of time. She especially loved some social contact and a chance to go out for lunch. She looked forward to the monthly meeting of the Retiree s Club and appreciated that she was still considered a member even after Dad passed away. She is survived by two children Dennis Ted Norman (Susan) and Virginia Rae Corry, ten grandchildren Denise, Cindy, Susan, Daniel Andrew, Debra, Jason H. Corry (Becky), Andrew Ted Corry (MaryJean), Rebecca Rae Goode (Chris), Taylor Gary Corry (Elizabeth), and Austin Gary Corry (Amy). She also cared about 25 precious great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, her parents, all of her siblings, a son-in-law Gary H. Corry, and a special friend Helen King. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the EMT s, hospital staff, and Dr. Gregory Tayler all from Heber Valley for their kind care, sympathy, and compassion for someone that has been so dear to us and was in so much pain. Also the quick response for hospice care to be started that her final days could be made as comfortable as possible. We could never repay you for all you have done to help us when we were helpless.
