Flora Merle Rose Williams

October 3, 1920 — June 17, 2014

Flora Merl Rose Williams, affectionately known as Merle, peacefully left this earth life June 17, 2014, surrounded by loving family members. She lived a full life for 93 years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Merle was born in Malad, Idaho October 3, 1920 to Joseph Rose and Lavina Allen Rose, the sixth daughter of seven girls. She married her high school sweetheart, Dan C. Williams, October 24, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple; he preceded her in death. Merle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership callings. She grew up during the "Great Depression" when hard work was a necessary way of life. She learned and taught by example a great work ethic. Of all her accomplishments, Merle's family was her crowning achievement and the center of her life. Merle, though quiet, was an adventurer at heart. She loved camping in Yellowstone National Park several times each year with her family. Boating on Hebgen Lake in Montana was another enjoyable activity. Merle is survived by her four sons: Dan (Pam) Williams, Craig (Linda) Williams, Brett (Dianne) Williams, Randy (Lori) Williams; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Pope. Also preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Christopher Scott Williams and Danielle Christine Williams; siblings: Lyle Mills, LaRue Thomas, Virginia Barker, Emogene Harenberg and Afton Davis. We would like to thank the staff at The Lodge for their kindness and support of our mother, especially Jessica. A viewing will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014, 11:00 am 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT. Burial will follow immediately at Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Place of Birth:Malad, IdahoPlace of Death:South Jordan, Utah
