Udora, age 90 years and 9 months, passed away quickly and peacefully and returned to the open arms of her husband Neil and her Heavenly Father on July 22, 2017. Her residence at the time of passing was in care of the Rocky Mountain Riverton Care Center, Riverton, Utah. Udora was born in Ursine, Nevada to Elva Udora and Samuel J. Hollinger. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Neil L. Morris whom she married March 14, 1947 in the St. George LDS Temple; they had seven children. Udora's life was a life of passionate service and caring for others. Besides the normal daily requirements of a young mother, she also had to devote a significant amount of love, patience and time to care and nurture for their 3rd child Ray, who was born with Cerebral Palsy and multiple disabilities. As a result of these sacrifices by Neil, Udora and Ray, all of the children have a greater appreciation and understanding of "pulling together no matter what". Udora was instrumental as an advocate, committee chair and active parent in establishing the first Salt Lake Day Care and Training Center for Multiple Handicapped Children. This early success resulted today in the long running Columbus Community Center and other statewide programs which provide daily work shops and group homes for the severely disabled of which Ray is still an active participant. She was a dedicated loving mother to all of her children and always loved to be around grandchildren and great-grandchildren to share stories with. Udora was a pioneer in establishing one of the first "Plus Size" clothing chains as well as being a clothing designer and manufacturing manager. Later in life, she took on the challenge of Chief Financial Officer for a family owned business. Udora was an active member of the LDS Church. She had many teaching and leadership callings and accepted all callings with grace and gratitude. Everyone who knew Udora appreciated her great talent as an author and poet. Udora spent many summers at the Chautauqua Institution in Western New York participating in their Literary Arts Programs writing stories and poems. One of her greatest joys was to be able to walk the walk to the Hall of Philosophy with her CLSC graduating class. Literature was a true passion and love of hers. Preceded in death by her parents Elva and Samuel; husband Neil; baby John; sister Ruth Prince (Bevan, deceased); grandson baby Scott Andrew Morris. Survived by brother Walter Hollinger (Myrna); sisters Sara Jane Patterson (Don, deceased) and Ruby Lister (Wayne, deceased); children: Marsha Butler (Hugh), Larry Morris (Laura), Walter Ray Morris, Melinda Hutchinson (Gary, deceased), Tresia Mullanix (Bud); LaVon Morris (Jane); 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at River Ridge 8th Ward, 1409 West Shields Lane (9800 S.), South Jordan. Viewings will be held Friday, July 28th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and prior to Saturday services at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
