Beloved father, husband, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully due to conditions incident to age on August 22, 2018, exactly one month before his 90th birthday. Frank married his true love, Janice Petersen, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City Temple on June 18, 1952. Together they had three daughters, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Janice passed before him on October 20, 2017 and Frank has waited patiently until he could join her again. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frank served a mission in the Pacific Northwest and faithfully served as a High Council Member and Ward Clerk in the Jordan North 8th Ward, where he was a member for almost 65 years. Frank was proud of his service to his country. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Benning, Georgia during the Korean War. He was a paratrooper and made close to 100 jumps. He was honorably discharged with National Defense Service and Good Conduct medals. Frank loved life. He was active and cracking jokes right up until the end. A Utah native, Frank grew up in the Millcreek area and enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, travel, the Utah Jazz and his dogs, Bruno and Heidi his beloved Schnauzers. Frank was a salesman of the highest caliber, earning top sales awards for many of the 30 years he sold at South East Furniture and RC Willey. He won many trips to places around the world which he and our mom cherished. After "retiring", Frank worked as a customer shuttle driver for BMW of Murray for 15 years. Frank loved this job - and touched many lives with his stories and jokes as he entertained his passengers. Frank's favorite and most important work was as our loving father and grandfather. He showed his love with service whether it was helping fix a car, loading up his snow blower to drive to our houses to shovel walks, household repairs or whatever help we needed. He loved and took care of his grandchildren. They were a great joy to him. They loved being around him as he was a great tease and storyteller. We will miss you so much Dad, but we rejoice in knowing you have joined Mom, your brothers and sister, mother and father and the other family and friends that have passed before you. Frank is preceded in death by his wife Janice; and is survived by his three daughters: Kim Moreton (Mike) Sandy, Shanna Lelli (Doug Allinger) St. George, and Leslie Petersen (James Daly) Sandy. Shanna and Kim would like to publicly thank sister Leslie for being the primary caregiver and financial wizard for our parents for the last ten years through some very difficult times. They were both able to pass peacefully at the home they had shared for 60 years because of her. We, and mom and dad, couldn't have done it without you. Thank you Les. A gathering to remember Frank will be held Sunday, August 26th from 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27th 12:00 noon, at the Jordan North 8th Ward, 3900 South 4000 West, where friends may visit from 11 to 11:45 prior to services.
