Frank Petroni, a veteran of WW2 and the Korean war, passed away at the age of 95 in his home surrounded by family on April 12, 2023.

Frank was born to Lenard and Annie Petroni in Utah on July 7th, 1927. He married the love of his life, Mary Deans, on June 11, 1954, and they had 5 beautiful children that they raised in West Valley City.

Frank enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. After WW2 he enlisted into the Army and became a tank commander in the Second Infantry Division in the Korean war. The US Army recognized Frank for his honorable service with a Purple Heart, specifically for his heroic action in the Korean war, where he pulled other soldiers to safety despite being wounded himself. After his devoted service to our country, Frank went on to work for Eaton Metal and retired from Boilermakers Union.

Frank is survived by his children Larry, Gary (Marilu), Kathy (Phil), David, Paul (Sara), as well as his grandchildren (10), great-grandchildren (28), and great-great-grandchildren (20).

Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, and siblings, Mary, Erma, Rose, Elva, Leo, and Sam.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to David, Nick, and Jordan for making it possible to keep grandpa at home where he lived his best life. Thank you to Jamie, Rudy, Julia, and Laurie with Harmony Home Health and Hospice for your care during his last days at home.

A memorial service to honor Frank's life and Military Service will be held at the McDougal Funeral Home (4330 S Redwood Rd) on April 17, 2023 at 10:00 am.

Graveside services will be held on April 24,2023, at 2:00 pm at Utah Veterans Memorial Park (17111 S Redwood Rd).

In Lieu of flowers the family is asking for financial assistance for the services.
