Fred Leo Baumgart passed away May 23, 2015 in West Valley City, Utah. He was born January 14, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Fred and Nora Lee Arnold Baumgart. Attended Queens Vocation High School to be an electrician and worked at the Ridge Savings Bank. Served a mission in the Western Calgary Canada mission. Served in the US Army for three years and Army Reserves for three years. In 1964 he came to Utah to live with his mother and brother, Byron. Married Karen Fluckiger October 5, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved baseball and played on several teams for church ball and also on a county team. He loved reading in many subjects, was often called on for his expertise in many fields and loved sharing that knowledge with others. Survived by his wife Karen; daughter Dorie B. Harkness; son Michael Fred Baumgart; 3 grandchildren; brothers Ronnie (Marie), Brooklyn, NY; Roger (Lynda) and Byron (Diana), both of West Valley City; sisters Marilyn (Nick) DeBenedictis, Taylorsville; Helen Grube, West Valley City. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Dexter; sister Lois. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 29, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter South Stake Center, 5180 West 4700 South.
