Frederick Fwai Hsu, more commonly known as "Fred", age 75 passed away comfortably in the CICU at the Intermountain Medical Center. Fred was surrounded by family and a wonderful medical team. Fred has been a resident of Sandy, Utah for the last 22 years of his life. Fred was born in China on July 15, 1942 to father Man Tak and mother Yu Wen (Chew) Hsu. Early in his life, he immigrated to the USA in search of the American dream. Realizing early on that success and money doesn't grow on trees, his life is an emblem of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. Fred started his journey in the USA as a college student in Chicago. In the 1970's, he wanted to move to California but ran out of gas and money when he arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has stayed in Utah ever since! His time in Utah included starting a Chinese restaurant, buying homes, working at Smiths grocery store, and eventually graduating from the University of Utah. Fred helped his parents immigrate to the United States and took care of them until their deaths. Fred loved his parents very much. Fred married Daisy (Suk Wai) on November 11, 1988 and was happily married for over 29 years. During those years, Fred never spent a penny for himself but always provided for his family. Fred is survived by his wife Daisy; 3 children May Bo (Dallin), Aaron, and Gary; 4 grandchildren; 3 siblings Kin (Chi Ying) of Kansas, Mina of Hong Kong, Kenneth (Shirley) of Hong Kong; 3 nieces and 4 nephews A graveside service will be held on Saturday,January 6, 2018 at 9 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Family and friends are invited for a brunch after the interment. Special thanks to the medical staff at IMC.
