Freeland A. Barney 1924 ~ 2013 Our loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grand-father passed away February 13, 2013 after a long battle with dementia. Freeland Afton Barney was born August 1, 1924 in Escalante, Utah and grew up in Richfield, Utah with his mom, Lillie, four sisters and two brothers. He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy, for 65 years. He moved to Magna, Utah and worked for Kennecott for 35 years and missed working there every day after retirement. He adored his cat, Snoopy, and loved fishing and going to swap meets. He was affectionately known as Candy Man for always wanting to feed everyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor right up to the very end and always kept us laughing. The last few months were a gift from God showing us what a remarkable man Freeland truly was. Thanks for all the love, laughs and memories. We love you and will miss you always. Survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Sandra (Frank Cooke) Peterson; Brent (Sylvia), Cathy (Dick) Marshall; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Preceding Freeland in death were his mom, sisters and brothers, daughter, Karen and son, Kevin. We would like to give our thanks to everyone at Willow Wood for all their help. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013, 12:00 noon at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4805 South .
