Garth Lamar Stowe

November 19, 1924 — January 27, 2015

We lost a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend today, January 27, 2015, who made the world a better place for everyone who knew him. Garth Lamar Stowe was born November 19, 1924 in Price, Utah to Arthur Bernard and Velma Leona Larson Stowe. After faithfully serving his country during WW11, on the USS Air Carrier Matanikau, he returned home to marry Betty Jean Kent July 28, 1949. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and together raised a beautiful family of 5 children: Kathleen (Morgan) Fisher, Sherrill (Lewis) Cranney, Keith (Ilene) Stowe, Barbra (Richard) Lee and Deann (Craig) Mullen along with 24 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren that adored him. Garth served in many ward and stake positions as well as a temple worker for many years. He was an accomplished mechanic, grounds keeper and musician, who always had a smile on his face and was humming a song. He would help anyone in need and offer you the shirt off his back. He will be remembered by his kind, gentle, honest heart and his legacy of family, faith, love, honor and integrity. A viewing will be held Friday, January 30, 2015, 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015, 11:00 am at the Western Hills 1st Ward, 5380 W 5400 S, Kearns, UT. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
