Garth Wayne North, 77, son, brother, uncle and cousin, passed away November 25, 2021. Wayne, was born May 16, 1944 in Heber City, Utah to Garth Carlos and Oral Mecham North. He was the oldest of four children and is survived by his three younger sisters, Joylene North Austin, LeAnna North Jackman and Laurel North Petterssen. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Wayne loved his nieces and nephews and always remembered their birthdays. He would give them something regardless of his financial situation. He was generous to a fault, willing to give you anything he had if he thought you needed it more than he did. His lifetime hobby was electric trains. It started one Christmas in Heber when, as a little boy, he received a train from Santa. He still has that train, and his house is filled with trains of all shapes and sizes that he has collected over the years. He was also an ardent study of history and had a sharp mind and good memory. He could quote dates and events from world history, US History and Church history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Wayne served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to the Great Lakes Mission and attended Brigham Young University. He loved people and liked to tease. He was liked by everybody that crossed his path. He also loved his pets, especially Snowflake, his large white dog, that scared people with his size and appearance, but was really a gentle giant. Snowflake passed away just a couple months ago, and Wayne really missed him.
Wayne’s funeral service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, 11:00 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and one hour prior to funeral services. Burial will be in Midway City Cemetery, Midway, Utah.
