Geneva passed away quietly in her sleep on August 20, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah where she lived with her son Kevin and his family. Geneva was born on June 11, 1934 in Enochs, Texas as the oldest child of Lloyd Manuel Alford and Minnie Lillian (Strickland) Alford. In 1955 she married Frederick G. Nudd, later divorced. Geneva grew up on a cotton farm in Texas before her parents moved to Upland and then Ontario, California. She attended Chafee High School and Chafee College and began taking flying lessons to become a pilot. She ended up meeting Fred Nudd, who was in the military and married and began a family instead. Marriage took her to many parts of California, and for a few years, she even lived in Sheas Castle outside of Lancaster. Geneva was a very determined and strong woman. When she set her mind on doing something, she did it. Fred and Geneva had one child, Kevin, but she gave service to many other children for several years as an emergency shelter parent. After becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1970, she served others in whatever calling she was given, which also included serving as a missionary at church headquarters in Salt Lake City. When Geneva and Fred moved to Utah, they were home parents to many young men at a Utah Boy's Ranch. Geneva was a dedicated friend. She loved and was fiercely loyal to her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Geneva fought a long battle with dementia which finally took away who she was and what she loved about life. We are relieved that her battle is over and know she is reunited with her Heavenly Father, her Savior, and all her family who preceded her in death. Geneva is survived by her son Kevin Nudd and his wife Shelley who cared for her the last several years; grandchildren Jennifer Nudd, Natalie Jones, Rebecca Bruso, John Nudd and Thomas Nudd. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and other extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Melvin (Richard) Alford; sister Loretta Lowther; uncles; aunts; and cousins. The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Utah Oquirrh Stake building located at 5208 West Cyclamen Way (6340 South) in West Jordan. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. just prior to the funeral. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
