Genevieve Thomson Houston 1922 ~ 2012 Gen passed away in the early morning of April 4, 2012 from causes incident to age. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah November 7, 1922 to William Lester and Eva May Beardall Thomson. She attended South High School and graduated in 1941. She married Thomas Howard Houston August 20, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. She spent many happy years with her husband raising their six children and enjoying their 23 grandchildren, 36 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Gen worked several years as a waitress at Bratten s restaurant, Finn s, Steven s Clinic and later as a secretary at West Lake Jr. High School. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including: Relief Society president, Stake Relief Society president, Sunday School teacher, in the Primary and the Scouting program. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, flowers and natural beauty. She lived in Salt Lake most of her life and enjoyed a few short seasons in St. George, Utah and Arizona with her husband. She suffered from Alzheimer s disease and spent most of her last years with her daughter Diana caring for her. Gen cared for her mother, mother-in-law and husband for many years before each passed on. She loved life and brought joy to all who knew her. Her parents, siblings and husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Thomas Howard (Davalene) Houston Jr., Jerry Douglas (Cathy) Houston, Ronald Eugene (Marsha) Houston, Danial Lynn (Julie) Houston, Genette Joyce (Dan) Knowles, and Diana Mae (Philip) Wayman; and their 64 descendants. Funeral will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Cannon 4th Ward, 1301 South 1200 West. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
