George Kenneth (Ken) Forsyth, 99, passed away quietly at home in Washington, Utah on January 14, 2016 of causes incident to age. He was born to Neil Snow and Chloe Roseltha Hatch Forsyth on September 2, 1916 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada. He married June Hartley Hinman May 12, 1943 in the Cardston Alberta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Ken completed his education in Cardston Alberta. In January 1941 he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Three weeks after Pearl Harbor was bombed, Britain's wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave a speech in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Constable Forsyth was honored to hold the limousine door for him. A year and a half later, Ken was discharged from the RCMP for getting married, because in 1943 Mounties could only marry after seven years of service. Ken, June and children moved from Cardston, Alberta to Moses Lake, Washington in 1954. In 1958 they moved to Puyallup, Washington and then to Seattle. He was an accountant for construction companies during those years. In 1968 they returned to Moses Lake where he was a commercial building contractor. Ken served in many callings in the LDS Church. Together Ken and June served four LDS Missions: Arizona Tempe (1977), South Africa Johannesburg (1984), Philippines Quezon City (1989), and North Carolina Charlotte (1993). In 1996 they moved to Salt Lake City where June passed away in 2009. Since 2012 Ken has lived in Washington, Utah. Survived by five children: Marilyn June Forsyth Wallin (Bruce), Jill Forsyth Stark (Robin), Weltha Jane Forsyth Jensen (Blair, dec.), Charles Junior Forsyth (Karin), and Kevin Michael Forsyth; 20 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife June; two infant children, George Kenneth Forsyth, Jr and Jeanette Forsyth; siblings, Thomas Rex Forsyth, Duane H Forsyth, and Neil Scott Forsyth; sister Ruth Forsyth Horne; brothers Mylo Wilfred FGeorgeorsyth, Garth Dean Forsyth and Bryce H Forsyth. Deep appreciation to Community Nursing Service Hospice employees Darcy, Kristen, Emily, Shanae, Laurie, Gary, Sue, Jennifer (and her harp), other staff members and volunteers. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m., in the Taylorsville 13th Ward, 1495 W. Tamarack Road. Viewings will be Friday, January 29 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and prior to the Saturday service from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
