George L. Gygi Trainman George Larence Gygi, husband, father, brother, grandpa and friend, boarded his final train on September 13th. He was born October 14, 1924 to Herman and Jennie Faldmo Gygi. He married Beverly (Leonard) Gygi on September 11, 1947. Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple December 15, 1964. Served in the U.S. Navy aboard P.T. boats during World War II. A lifelong trainman, he worked as a Switchman/Conductor for the Rio Grande Railroad for over 40 years. Constant voice for the working man, he served as Legislative Representative for the United Transportation Union. Also served two terms in the Utah State House of Representatives where he championed the cause for the Labor Force. Served as past President of the Lions Club and also served on the AARP Legislative Committee. Enjoyed many trips with his wife, sharing lasting memories of visits to Foreign Countries. Member of the LDS church, enjoying numerous callings. Survived by his wife Beverly; daughter, Vickie (Steve) World; sons: Jeff L. (Nancy) Gygi; G. Lee (Jill) Gygi; sister, Sylvia Albertson and a long list of grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved very much. Preceded in death by brothers: Milton, Herm, Lee Gygi and sister, Etta Adams. Thanks to 1st Choice Hospice for their care and compassionate service. Clear Tracks/Green Blocks. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road . Viewing will be held Monday 6-8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home. Interment: Valley View Cemetary.
