George Lynnwood Perry, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, after a tough and courageous battle with Dementia. He was born March 14, 1934, in Lexington, Kentucky to Cecil and Elizabeth Perry and was the third of four children. His siblings were all girls, and this provided George with a unique opportunity to become an absolute gentleman. He married his first true love, Marilyn Dodge of Salt Lake City, Utah on March 23, 1956. Marilyn passed away on November 21, 2009, but provided George with a full life of memories, hobbies, four Beautiful Children, and 53 wonderful years of Marriage. George and Marilynn helped create a legacy of 4 Children, 14 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
George married Darlene Boren later in his life and the two of them had 7 years together enjoying retired life and continuing his passions and hobbies.
George will be fondly remembered by thousands as Coach George, Coach Perry, or Coach Grandpa. He and Marilyn coached all three daughters and his son in various sports. George also coached his granddaughters in basketball and had one of the toughest to beat Junior Jazz Teams in the area. George and Marilyn played a huge part in getting the Salt Lake Bonnet Ball program started.
One of George's favorites passions in life was Golf. He was a very good golfer and so much fun to be with while playing. He spent countless hours with friends and family sharing this passion and passing on his love for golf to many of his grandsons.
Both George and Marilyn were fixtures in the Salt Lake area recreational bowling circle and formed many bowling leagues at the Delton, Ritz Classic, Sue Rich, and other locations. Bowling, Golf, and Coaching gave George and Marilyn unique opportunities to teach and mentor young people and pass on a legacy of sportsmanship, competitiveness, hard work, trust, and Love.
A few other of George's passion and hobbies were playing Santa for many years for anyone or any organization that asked, running the Bingo Game for the Hercules Lagoon Day, beating his family including sons-in-law and grandchildren in darts, and keeping an organized home and beautiful yard (along with winning an award from West Valley City).
Later in life, George really enjoyed his "Lunch Bunch" (friends), going to breakfast with family and friends, and getting to know anybody that he met. George had a gift of gab and became a favorite customer for many waitresses at local restaurants who were fortunate to assist him.
Geroge was a dedicated hard worker and spent 35 years working for Hercules as a Safety Testing Manager, and 10 years as a Parts Manager for Larry H Miller.
George is preceded in death by his wife Marilynn Perry (Dodge), wife Darlene Perry (Boren), and daughter Tammy Lujan (Perry).
