Gerald Goodwin Bassett, Jr. Jerry Jerry Bassett, Jr. peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father October 28, 2013 of causes incidental to age. We are grateful for the precious time he was able to spend with family and friends during the preceding few weeks. Jerry was born August 12, 1929, in Eureka, Utah, to Rhea Daniels and Gerald Goodwin Bassett. He was a graduate of Payson High School and attended Brigham Young University and LDS Business College. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He then worked 33 years for the Department of the Army as a supply clerk. He retired in 1986; and despised olive drab the rest of his life. On February 17, 1961, Jerry married Leah Farnsworth in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Murray, Utah and raised three children together. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several church callings throughout his life. Most recently he served with Leah as a temple worker and family history consultant. Jerry enjoyed camping, playing basketball and ping pong, building models, watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events, and BYU football; although he would delay watching the game until he knew the outcome was favorable. Jerry is survived by his wife, Leah, of 53 years; children: Craig (Jennavee) Bassett, Traci (Scot) Tolman, Dallin (Ryann) Bassett; three grandchildren: Doug and Amy Tolman and Beau Bassett; brother, Ralph (Eva) Bassett, niece Lisha Bassett and nephews Perry (Susan) and Kyle (Holly) Bassett. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry was very close to Leah's family and is survived by sisters in law Veloy Bird, Linda Farnsworth, brother in law Dee (Eileen) Farnsworth and several beloved nieces and nephews.
