Geraldine Jacobs Wilkinson Isbell Barker
September 10, 1927 - March 17, 2025
After a long and beautiful life, Geraldine Jacobs Wilkinson Isbell Barker, 97, passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family members. Geraldine, or Geri as she preferred to be called, was born on September 10, 1927 to Joseph Jacobs and Maud Leone Openshaw Jacobs in Salt Lake City. She married Calvin J. Wilkinson in the Salt Lake Temple on December 17, 1948. They had 4 children, Vickie, Scott, Gregg, and Marci.
Geri and Cal were later divorced. She married Mac W. Isbell on May 10, 1969. He died of cancer on June 1, 1979. She married Heber B. Barker on June 16, 1984. Heber was her very dear companion for 40 wonderful years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She especially enjoyed working with the children in Primary and also various callings in Relief Society. From the time she was 16 years old she served in all the women's organizations in the Church. One of her favorite callings was serving with Heber as Primary Nursery Leaders for 15 years. They were known to the Nursery children as "Grandma and Grandpa Barker".
She sang in the Tabernacle Choir from 1952 to 1955 and also played her violin in many Church programs.
Geri graduated from the University of Utah with a masters degree in education. She was a lifelong teacher and taught school for 31 years. She loved the children she worked with and especially enjoyed time with her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved giving violin lessons to her granddaughters, and enjoyed oil painting, needlepoint, and reading. She was especially grateful for her husband, Heber, for his love and kindness to her and to her children. She was also grateful for the gospel in her life and her testimony of it's truthfulness.
Geri was loving, kind, adventurous, and very generous with both her time and means. She loved to travel, take family vacations, water-ski, snow ski, and create fun family gatherings and wonderful sleepovers for her grandchildren and step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin J. Wilkinson, her second husband, Mac Isbell, and her dear third husband Heber Barker; her grand-daughter, Sarah Folkersen, step-grandson Michael McGowan, and great granddaughter, Lainey Isabella Acosta Sevy.
Survivors include her brother, LaMont (Barbara) Jacobs, her children: Vickie (Rich) Sevy, Scott (Nancy) Wilkinson, Gregg Wilkinson, and Marci (Brad) Folkersen and 5 stepchildren: Michael (Jerry) Barker, Douglas (Noi), Corinne Ruth (James) McGowan, Rebecca (Rick) Woodbury, Heber S. (Banyen) Barker, 14 grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, a combined total of 76 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
