Geraldine Emily Haslam Cannon passed away on December 9, 2015 in Murray, Utah, due to complications from pneumonia. She was born to Albert Haslam and Violet Naomi Pettersson on April 8, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah. While attending Cyprus High School she met Michael Badger Cannon. Her beautiful smile captured his attention and they later fell in love and married on November 19, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five children. She had many talents and virtues: organization and creative skills, her powerful faith in God, endurance through trials, and her caring love. Her life centered around family in every sense of the word, teaching her children and grandchildren, creating activities where everyone could participate in the fun, researching genealogy and writing family histories. Her home reflected her tender feelings toward the sacredness of family. Geri served in many capacities in her LDS ward, loving each calling, especially creating the ward newsletter, which she did for many years. She and Mike served an LDS mission together in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her other interests included reading, writing true family stories of faith and inspiration, keeping family histories and hand stitching ancestral quotes for pictures on her walls. She loved family vacations and often explored places where ancestors once lived. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her son Steven Michael. She is survived by her husband; four children, Jill Pitts (Ken), Emily Orgill (Bradley), Jeffrey Ted (Karrie) and Casandra Birtcher (Jess); daughter-in-law Carolee Cannon; 30 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings: Terry Haslam, Kathy Giles and Teddi Ann Lucas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Jordan North 2nd Ward, 4270 South Falcon St. (4145 West), where a viewing will be held on Sunday, December 13, 5-7:00 p.m., and Monday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services.
