Geraldine "Jerry" Parkin Walton

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Geraldine Walton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 86.

Jerry was born March 9, 1932 to Roland Thurgood and Martha Roach Pugsley Parkin. She was the youngest of four daughters. She was the son her father never had. She loved to go fishing and camping with her father, and later in life, with her sons.

She married Leon Howard Walton on June 5, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to their home in Kearns, Utah in 1957 and there they raised their four children: Brad Walton, Teri (Layne) Oliver, Scott (Jeri) Walton, and Karen (Ruben) Sanchez. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Jerry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church callings, Relief Society, Primary and Cub Scouting. She worked several years with her husband as a Temple Ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.

She worked for 20 years for Granite School District at Academy Park Elementary School in the school lunch program.

She had many hobbies to include golfing with her friends, and crocheting baby blankets and booties for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband Howard.

The family would like to thank the caring staff and nurses at Cascades at Riverwalk, and Colleen Jenkins for the kindness and love they showed to Geraldine over the past year.

A viewing will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Kearns 14th Ward, 4232 West 5015 South. A viewing will be at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
