Gerry Capps

May 30, 1948 — October 8, 2021

With sadness in our hearts, Gerald Ray Capps has passed away from complications of Dementia. He passed away on October 8, 2021. He is now free of his earthly health problems and is in the loving embrace of Heaven.

Gerald was born May 30, 1948 to Elmer Prentice Capps and Elaine Pack Capps at Lehi Hospital in Lehi, Utah. His family moved to Van Nuys, California where he spent the next 18 years.

He graduated from Birmingham High School and then served a mission in Australia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1972 he married Susan McMillan in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a wonderful 49 years together. They have five children: Michael (Keeyla),   Thomas (Sarah), Allison (Brett), Stephen (June), and Jonathan (Erin); with 17 grandchildren. Gerald is also survived by two sisters, Dawna Davison and Sherry Palmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Elaine Capps.

Gerald had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving his Heavenly Father, where he served in many different callings. He enjoyed golf, softball, chess, history, computer military games and reading. He also loved holidays, trips and going to Bear Lake with his family.

Gerald worked most of his life in communications. He loved his job and received many awards and accomplishments.

We are thankful for the tender quality care of the staff at Pine Creek Nursing Home. We are thankful for our belief in the gospel and for eternal families.

His wish was to have a small graveside service with family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary fund or your favorite charity.

Gerry brought us much happiness and many fun memories; he will be dearly missed.
