Gillian (Jill) Bickmore James was born on April 17th, 1974 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Robert Sr and Barbra Culp Bickmore, and passed away in the comfort of her home on September 15, 2024. Jill was raised in the Salt Lake City area, mainly in West Jordan. She attended Cottonwood High School and graduated in 1992. At Cottonwood, she was a member of the student council and the debate team, where she lettered.
In 2020, she graduated from Cameo College of Essential Beauty as a nail technician. She loved to express her artistry by doing nails and helping others feel beautiful. She used this talent to serve those in need and to show her love for those she cared for.
Shortly before graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Gregory James, and was sealed to him for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 17th, 1992.
Jill is blessed with three beautiful children Chris, Kate (Joseph Stout), and Kolbie. She enjoyed supporting them in all of their extracurricular activities and pursuits. She learned to be a scorekeeper for Chris' baseball teams and would eventually compile the stats for the entire league. She made sure to correct you if you ever called runs in baseball points. She enjoyed supporting her children as a Kearns Pony Baseball League member, a fan and a board member. She supported her daughters in Shellie's School of Dance by attending too many dance concerts to count. As her kids grew up she enjoyed helping them in school plays, musicals, and yearbook publications. She was immensely proud of her kids and their accomplishments.
Jill had many occupations in her lifetime. She most enjoyed working at Hobby Lobby, Tulip Tree Floral, Old Navy, Jetblue Airlines, and her most recent job with her Delta Family. She loved to talk about the people she met and the places they were going.
Jill's hobbies included knitting, cross-stitching, and wood painting. She knitted baby booties for new moms in her neighborhood. Jill has three baby blankets already made for her future grandchildren. Jill loved to serve other people by sitting and spending time with them and getting to know them.
Jill struggled with her testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at times but she studied, asked questions, and learned how Jesus Christ could change her and others' lives. Any time she was asked to do something in the church, she never followed blindly; she always took the time to learn for herself. She served as a member of the Relief Society Presidency and as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved these callings and the people she served with her whole heart. She knew that God loves everyone no matter their race, sexual preference, or pronoun. She loved as God loves.
She taught her family to question and investigate all potential leaders in politics. Her favorite saying is, "Well-behaved women seldom make history". She was not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she felt was right. She was passionate about the things she cared for.
Jill's body could not keep up with her mind; she suffered kidney stones, back pain, pinched nerves, and neuropathy. We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and other support staff who spent so much time and effort to make her feel comfortable despite her numerous health challenges. We would like to especially thank Dr. Bradley Waterman and Dr. Micah Rosenfield for their tireless efforts to help her in her journey.
Jill is survived by her husband Greg, and her three children Chris, Kate (Joseph Stout), and Kolbie. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Culp Bickmore, brothers John (Jennie) and Ben Bickmore, her sister Stephanie (Mike), and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends whom she loved so much. She is preceded in death by her loving father, John Robert Bickmore Sr, and many Grandparents.
We know she is not in pain anymore and is feeling overwhelmed with love from her father, who is her hero.
