Golda Platt Michel, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, and longtime resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Monday, May 30th of natural causes. She passed at the age of 93 years old alongside her three children and many grandchildren. Golda was born in Kanarraville, Utah on July 8, 1923 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah after marrying her loving husband Eugene Michel. She was widowed by her husband's death November 8, 1981. Golda Michel was a strong and independent woman who took in anyone in need. She loved to cook and bake many things and was always willing to share some of her favorite recipes and always had something to offer everyone. She loved cooking so much that she was the cafeteria manager at First Security Bank for 25 years. Golda was a shoulder to cry on and always had an open hand and a kind word. She never judged anyone and offered advice in all situations, no matter how difficult the situation. She was a big fan of romance novels and her favorite film was Gone with the Wind. Some of her favorite leisure activities were camping with her family, playing solitaire, and getting her hair done every Friday. Golda took a lot of pride in her yard, especially with her snowball bush and berry bushes in the back yard and her roses in the front yard. She spent countless hours working on these to make sure that she had one of the best looking yards in the neighborhood. Golda was a kind soul and will be missed by many, she has touched so many lives and changed so many people for the better. She is now dancing in the stars with her husband, who has been awaiting her arrival. She is survived by her many loving siblings: Mary Judd, Olga Christensen (Jack Christensen), John Platt (Dixie Platt), Phyllis Atwood (Ernie Atwood), Ruth Nash (Doug Nash), Alice Triggs; her two sons, John E. Michel and William E. Michel (Jackie Michel); her daughter, Terrie M. Finley; her grandchildren: Matt Finley, Telissa Candelaria, Sean Finley, Roxanne Profitt, Sara Michel, Zeke Michel; her great grandchildren: Rachael Martinez, Sean Finley, Kamei Finley, Katelyn Profitt, Madison Profitt, and Alazae Michel; and her great-great-grandchildren: Dominicc Ohlwiler and Aaliyah Finley. She is preceded in death by her two parents, Walter Lysle Platt and Alice Campbell Platt; her brother,Elmo Platt; her sister, Rosina Chidister; and her two siblings who died as newborns, Colon Platt and Walter Platt. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at Valley View Memorial Park.
