Golden Ricks Muir

Golden Ricks Muir 1926 ~ 2015 Golden R. Muir passed away Friday morning, April 3, 2015 from complications of a stroke. Golden was born December 22, 1926 in Rexburg, Idaho to Melvin B. Muir and Mabel Annetta Ricks. He attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho and was inducted into the Army two days after graduating from High School in 1945. He married Janice Johnson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 7, 1947. He has been a member of the LDS Church all his life, and has served in many capacities, including Bishop, member of the High Council, and a mission with his wife for 1 years as International Church Service Missionary Coordinators. He had an extraordinary sense for business which started in his high school years, as he raised chickens, pigs, and a couple of dairy cows. He bottled the milk in two quart jars and had regular customers to deliver to. He was a member of the State Guard during high school, so when he went into the army his rank was Acting 2nd Lieutenant and had seniority over many older than he was. In 1956 he started his main career in Real Estate, acquiring his broker's and contractor's license and spent the next forty years selling and developing property. He was President of the Granger Rotary Club for one year and President of the Utah Real Estate Board for one year. After his retirement he served for several years in the Real Estate Department of the LDS church. Golden is survived by his wife, Janice; four children: Pamela (Ron) Griffin, Michael (Debbie) Muir, Robert (Susan) Muir and Judy (Mark) Statham; foster daughter, Maxine Sloan; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Shelley preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 12:00 noon at the 18th North Ward, 135 A Street, Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held Monday, April 6, 2015, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Tuesday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
