Grant Thornton Eastwood Life Long Scouter Grant Thornton Eastwood, age 91, passed away on May 26, 2011. Born January 6, 1920 to Albert Eastwood and Elva Morgan, in Paris , Idaho. His growing up years were spent in Murray, Utah. He served his country as a soldier during World War II in the 309th Signal Company Wing of the Army. Married Eva Trimmer May 8th, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. By trade he was a carpenter and was employed by Granite School District in maintenance for schools, and served as a supervisor. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Bishop and Stake Patriarch as well as in many other callings. He loved doing Genealogy. Grant served for many years as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, and was honored to receive the Silver Beaver Award. Grant was a member of the Mormon Battalion and was instrumental in establishing the Mormon Battalion Trail Award Program. He is survived by his wife, Eva of 65 years: daughter, Kathleen Eastwood: 1 brother, Norman A. Eastwood: 3 sisters, Vilate Jones, Beverly Mary Bernardo, Elaine Christiansen; loved and enjoyed his nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at 3970 South 5200 West. Viewing will be held Wednesday 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Thursday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services.
