Gwendolyn Hansen Jensen was born March 15, 1931, to Nita Joy Collings and Wilford Hansen in Monroe, Utah. She passed away suddenly on August 12, 2016, in St. Louis, Missouri. Gwen graduated from South Sevier High School and then attended "the BYU". She married Roger Leo Jensen on May 3, 1952; establishing their first home in Richfield, Utah. Gwen worked for the Telluride Power Company until the family moved to Salt Lake City in 1961. In 1963 the family moved to the Taylorsville area. She worked for Litton Industries for 28 years. Gwen loved the arts. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing. She performed throughout the world with the Wasatch Singers. She also loved to go to the Symphony, Ballet and Opera with her family and friends. Her husband passed away in 2008. Gwen was living with her daughter Anne Rowley in Missouri when she passed away. Gwen had a deep faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ and was active in the LDS Church. She passed along her pioneer heritage of faith, courage, and dedication to her posterity, already stretching across three generations into the eternities. She loved her family. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. She served faithfully in many callings in the Church, including Ward Relief Society President. She was an accomplished teacher of the gospel, serving as a Relief Society Instructor for many years. Her righteous influence and example have enriched countless lives. Gwen is survived by her children and their spouses: Bill Jensen, Ted and Denise Jensen, Anne and Glenn Rowley, Barbara and Steve Jenkins, Kelli (Michael) Jensen, and Neil and Allyson Jensen; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Joy (Jerry) Poulsen, Bountiful, Utah; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son Michael; parents; brother Reeve (Mary) Hansen; and sisters Elaine (Max) Madsen and Genevieve (Blaine) Wilcox. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Kate Blackburn whose service as Gwen's physical therapist lifted her physically and emotionally from her wheelchair to the freedom of walking again. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Kearns 3rd Ward building, 4300 West 4715 South. Viewings will be held Friday, August 19th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and again prior to services on Saturday at the church from 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Monroe City Cemetery, Monroe, Utah.
