Hal Boyd Dial

Hal Boyd Dial passed away on May 27, 2018 while camping with his family. Hal was born on June 4, 1933 to Samuel and Elga Thorne Dial in Shelley, Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army and then went on an LDS mission to the New England States Mission. He married the love of his life, Janice Christison in the Salt Lake Temple on August 14, 1959. Hal worked for Midwest Office Supply for 45 years with his brother Dennis. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Bishop and in the Stake Presidency. The calling he loved most was being a dad and grandpa. His passion was his family. He loved camping and hunting in Tabiona, watching his kids and grandkids play sports and playing card games around the table with family and friends. He is adored and survived by his wife, Janice; children, Christie (Ron) Pease, Shelley (David) Snow, Boyd (Andrea) Dial, and Vernon (Sonya) Dial; sixteen grandkids; and nine great-grandkids; brother Robert "Bob"; and two sisters, Beverly Larsen and Nancy Cowley. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela; three brothers, Leon, Grant, Dennis; and three sisters, Donna, Norma and Darlene. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Decker Lake Park Ward, 2101 West 3100 South. Viewings will be held Thursday, May 31st, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and again on Friday prior to services at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donate to Primary Children's Hospital.
