Hal Owen Myers

Hal Owen Myers, age 97, was reunited with his beloved Joyce on March 4, 2018. He was born in Salt Lake City on September 19, 1920. He attended Madison Jr. High School and graduated from Granite High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Fillmore, in 1941. They enjoyed 69 years together until her passing in 2010. Hal was sealed to Joyce in the Salt Lake Temple in December of 2012. He served in the United States Army in the Philippines, New Guinea and Japan during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, Hal and Joyce relocated to Idaho. They returned to Utah in 1965, settling in Ogden, where he remained until 2016. He has spent his last 2 years in Sandy, Utah. Hal enjoyed the out of doors, hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening. He retired from Zellerbach Paper Company in 1982, and had a second career at Wangsgards, Ace Hardware, retiring at age 83. He was a kind and generous hardworking, patriotic man who loved his family above all. He is survived by his 2 children, Sandra Castleberry and Hal O. Myers Jr. (Connie). He is also survived by his 3 granddaughters, Mindy (Jereme Gardner), Angela (Jacob Santini) and Corinne (Alex Lindell) and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road in Taylorsville, where a viewing will precede the services from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Mt. Olivet. Hal is very much loved and will be dearly missed. Home again, home again Jiggety jig!
