Harold Phillips passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Sandy, Utah. Harold was born December 24, 1919 in Taylorsville, Utah, son of John Clairmond Phillips and Catherine Butterfield. He was the first born of nine children: Clair LeRoy (Lois, deceased); Elmo (Dorothy), both deceased; Thelma Vincent (Grant); Alvin (Joy); Ruth (Dean), both deceased; Alfred, deceased; Kenneth (Lyn); Dorothy Parrish. He joined the US Navy the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and saw four years of heavy combat during World War II. He married Alice Christensen on Feb 25, 1946 and returned to Salt Lake City, Utah where they made their home and hosted numerous family gatherings. Together, they enjoyed the outdoors and traveled extensively. Harold founded and operated a highly successful refrigeration company in Salt Lake City for many years before moving to Seattle, Washington, where he continued to work in refrigeration. Upon retirement, he and Alice moved to Apache Junction, Arizona. Following his wife's passing, he returned to Salt Lake City, where he lived the last seven years of his life with his brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Joy. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing Thursday, August 6, 2015, 10-10:45 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
