Harold G. Haven Gentle Father Harold Gordon Haven, age 88, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011. He was born November 17, 1922 in Ridgebury, Pennsylvania to Frank Milton Haven and Gertrude Marie Taylor. The family moved to Elmira, New York where he spent his childhood. Harold worked as an airplane mechanic on both commercial and military aircraft. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1981 after 31 years of civilian service. During his retirement he enjoyed driving about town, tinkering around the house, dining at the Kearns Senior Center, and serving in the Jordan River Temple. He loved strawberry milkshakes and chocolate chip cookies. A gentle and soft-spoken man, Harold sought diligently to know his Heavenly Father s will. As a young man he studied and participated in many different religions always seeking the Truth. He describes finding The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as coming out of darkness into light. Harold married Esther Alice Elder in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951. They cherished one another s company for 48 years in mortality and will continue their love throughout eternity. Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Esther; his parents; all of his brothers and sisters, and by his dearly loved Pomeranians: Tiny, Fluffy and Toby. He is survived by his 3 children: Gordon Elder Haven, Boyd Elder (Joan) Haven, and Susan Rebecca Haven (Edward) Roundy; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Silverado Senior Living and Silverado Hospice for their tender care. To love another person is to see the face of God. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. He will be interred beside his beloved Esther in Redwood Memorial Estates.
