Harriett E. Green

November 18, 1924 — May 8, 2015

Harriett E. Green -Taylorsville, UT. Passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, May 08,2015. Harriett "Nan" was born 10/18/24 in Hooper, Utah to Ruth Barber and Theodore Sanford Finch.Despite being a child of the Great Depression, Nan spoke fondly and often of her childhood, growing upwith her 4 siblings among the sugar beet fields and sneaking in to play in the processing mill of Hooper. On January 20, 1942, she married Chester Green in Terre Haute, Indiana. Nan and Grandpa Chet thenrelocated to Utah, settling in Granger where they raised their daughter, Janet and doted on their fourgrandson's and great grandchildren. Harriett was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who showed her love through overflowing concern for everyone's constant well-being.Nan and Grandpa Chet became hockey fanatics, cheering, jeering, supporting and transporting theirgrandsons and their teammates from rink to rink all over North America for nearly 3 decades. During thesummer months Nan was the unofficial team stat keeper for her grandson, Mike, and all the variousbaseball teams for which he played. Nan worked several years for England Brothers Trucking and UnisysCorporation. Following a brief retirement, Nan and Grandpa Chet accepted an eclectic job microfilmingold mining claims throughout the southwestern U.S. More an adventure than a job this opportunityhelped create in them a love of travel, especially in the desert south west which they happily sharedwith their grandchildren. Nan and Grandpa Chet later became "snowbirds", spending winters inQuartzite, Arizona and summers back home in Granger. Upon Chet's passing in 1994, Nan sold herGranger (West Valley City) home and moved permanently to Mesquite, Nevada. While in Mesquite, Nanmet several amazing people who enriched her life with their friendship. While living in Mesquite, Nankept busy volunteering and the local Mesquite Cancer Help Society, partying with the Red Hat Societyand bell ringing at Christmas time with Salvation Army. Between all of that she was a vivacious gambler. When not hammering away on the video slot machine buttons she was the Bingo Queen! The past fewyears her health dramatically declined and she became homebound. She looked forward to family orfriends visiting her and what seemed to provide her with the most enjoyment was visiting over coffee onher patio or watching her great grandchildren splashing in the pool under the warm southern Nevadasun. In this past year, health problems caused Nan to leave her beloved Mesquite home and return toTaylorsville where she resided at Legacy Village near her daughter Janet, grandsons and great-grandchildren. Nan was proceeded in death by her husband, Chester O. Green and leaves behind her daughter, Janet(Dave) Brown, Taylorsville, grandson's Todd (Suzie) Brown, Draper, Tony (Jenifer) Brown, Boise, Mike(Cheri) Brown, South Jordan & Cris (April) Brown, Salt Lake City along with nine great grandchildren.
