Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, and Great-great-grandpa, Heber Kenneth Baumgartner "HeberB" passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 2, 2018 at the age of 98. He was the seventh child of Fredrick Baumgartner and Alice Emma Ruffell born on May 21, 1920. Dad married Mom (Elnora Jean Allen), the love of his life, on June 11, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had eight children: David, Roger, Susan, Steven, Scot, Debra Jean, Becky, and Kelly. Heber was a member of the "Greatest Generation" serving in the Army during World War 2. He was deployed in Germany until he was wounded by a mortar blast, receiving his Purple Heart Medal. Heber was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in multiple positions including the Office of Bishop of the Brighton Ward in the Pioneer Stake. He loved serving in scouting where he earned the Silver Beaver Award. He loved to garden and maintained a beautiful yard and garden, supplying fresh vegetables to all his family and neighbors. He was a member of the "Sons of Utah Pioneers." Heber loved his family and kept track of all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He could tell stories about them all. Heber worked most of his married life for Mid-West Office Supply, first as a salesman, and then as the shipping and warehouse manager. All those who knew him, know him as "HeberB". He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Jean (Jeanie); all his siblings; son Roger and wife Melodie Baumgartner; daughter Debra Jean; grandson Craig Baumgartner; granddaughter Lisa Aubrey; and twin great-grandsons, Lincoln and Benson Noxon. He is survived by his children: David and Molly Baumgartner, Sue and Alan Aubrey, Steve and Micki Baumgartner, Scot and Janice Baumgartner, Becky and Dean Andreasen, Kelly and Vera Baumgartner; 32 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and 8 great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 1 pm in the LDS Chapel located at 2556 West 9800 South, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the same address. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates following the funeral service.
