Helbia Caron

Helbia Caron, age 82 was called to the arms of the Lord, on December 15, 2020.  Helbia was born September 5, 1938 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. 

Her mother was Arcely Cojulun and her father was Raul Polanco. Helbia had one brother, Humberto Polanco. Helbia graduated from The University of Guatemala with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She taught primary school.  Helbia, her mother and brother immigrated to Southern California in the 1950's to pursue a better life an4d opportunities in America. 

Helbia and Guy met in Hollywood at a Woolworth store soda fountain counter. At first it was hard for them to communicate for neither one spoke the other's language very well. They were married in 1958 and had two children, Alan and Marisa, and 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Matthew and Alan Jr. and her great-grandson Bradley.  Helbia welcomed her grandchildren and anyone to her home at any time with open arms. 

She was also a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse for over 30 years. She was a devoted longtime parishioner at St. Rita's Church in Sierra Madre. She volunteered her time with the Hospitality group. She enjoyed travelling especially to her little place in Ensenada Baja California. She loved the beach and swimming. Her cooking was enjoyed by the family and all friends that spent time with her. Everyone that came to her home was invited to enjoy a good meal; that was one of her enjoyments in life.

Mom had a great love for her dogs and other animals; especially Sparky who she owned for 16 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. “Rest in Peace, Mom, We love you!”
