Helen Mae Hardman Allen 1920 ~ 2013 Helen Mae Hardman Allen passed away July 3, 2013 in Salt Lake City at the age of 92 from causes incident to age. Helen was born on October 6, 1920 in Magna, Utah to Margaret Ann Featherstone and James Hardman. She married Bruce Wallace Allen on March 11, 1941 and later divorced. Helen spent her early childhood in Woodland, Utah later moving back to Magna where she graduated from Cyprus High School in 1939. She lived most of her life in the Salt Lake valley. She held several jobs, working during World War II at the Remington Arms plant, later at Tooele Army Depot, and then as a personal nurse. She was grateful to have spent the last few years of her life in the loving care of her family. Helen was a hard worker, had a gift for gardening, interior design and a talent for do-it-yourself projects. She persevered through many trials and tribulations always saying, you have to take the bitter with the sweet. She had a tremendous love for her pioneer heritage and family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whom she often referred to as her jewels. Helen is survived by two siblings Norman Hardman (Carol) and Margaret Wright; five children: Michael Allen, Dennis Allen (Bette), William Allen (Sherry), Sheila Gledhill (Scott), and Mary Mattson (Rodney); 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one grandson. Services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Friends and family may call at the viewing held Monday, July 8, 6-7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 So. Redwood Road.
