Helen Sylvia Hicks Grant

July 28, 1932 — September 10, 2014

Together Again Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Helen Sylvia Hicks Grant, returned to her Heavenly Father September 10, 2014. She passed away peacefully at the hospital after a valiant battle with pneumonia. Helen was born is Salt Lake City, Utah to Tom and Laura Hicks. She was the fourth child in line of four brothers and two sisters. She went to Emmett, Idaho, when she was seven-years-old, and lived with her Uncle Glen and Aunt Alta, returning to Salt Lake City to live with her mother a few years later. She had very fond memories of her stay with them. She graduated from West High School. She worked for See's chocolate factory, Dee's Fast Foods, Sperry Rand and finally, The Salt Lake City Police Department. She loved her job there. Helen married her sweetheart, Glen Hall Grant, on January 28, 1952 and was blessed with two children. Helen had a fantastic sense of humor; she made everyone she came in contact with laugh. We will sorely miss her laughter. She was also very soft hearted. She was baptized into the LDS Religion. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Rocky) Robello; son, Kenneth J. (Yvonne) Grant; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jen) Grant, Steven and Michael; sister Carol (Don) O'Day; brother Marvin (Tani) Mace. Preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, three brothers and one sister. A huge "thank you" to the staff at Carrington Court Assisted Living for taking such good care of Helen during her last few years of life. In addition a very special "thanks" to Robert Devour, her friend, who offered much love and friendship to Helen until the end. Funeral services will be held Monday, 9:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014, 6:00 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8-8:45 a.m. prior to services.
