Helen Kay Blevins Utley

Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Helen Kay Blevins Utley, passed away on January 6, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born to Eddie R. and Velma J. Blevins on June 29,1937, in Fillmore, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School and attended Brigham Young University. She married her sweetheart and eternal companion, Ned W. Utley on March 17, 1956. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 4, 1956. Ned and Helen were married for nearly 64 years. They are parents to three girls and two boys, grandparents to 18, and great-grandparents to 16.

Helen dedicated her life to serving her family and friends. She enjoyed planning events of all kinds and put her whole heart into creating many fun and memorable activities and events. Her family and friends will miss the frequent game nights filled with fun and laughter while playing cards and board games. Helen will be remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for her unconditional love and personal interest in each of them. “Grandma’s Treasure Box” will forever remain a special memory for them.

Helen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Relief Society President, on multiple activities committees, and in other various church callings. Some of the highlights of her church service included temple worker at the Jordan River Temple and service missionary at the Employment Resource Center in West Jordan, Utah, where she served alongside her husband.

Helen had a few different employment opportunities, but a highlight for her was her employment at the American Cancer Society where she worked for several years and played a part in raising money to help cancer patients.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, James (Jim) E. Blevins.

She is survived by her husband Ned; brother Woody Blevins (Jill); children Kelly Erickson (Lee), Diane Morrison (Bill), Connie Knight (Neal), Marty Utley (Linda), Aaron Utley (Erika); her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the South Jordan 3rd Ward, 9750 South 2200 West, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., and Monday, January 13, from 10-10:45 a.m., prior to funeral services. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 10600 S. 1700 E. in Sandy.
