Hugh Hatch Alsop 1933 ~ 2013 Our beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Hugh Hatch Alsop, 79, passed away Wednesday April 24th, at 8:05 pm in the presence of his loving family. He was the youngest son of Ivan and Virginia Alsop born on July 22, 1933. He lived and attended schools in Tooele, UT, graduating from Tooele High School in 1951. He then attended the University of Utah till 1953 when he was called to serve his country in the Korean War. He returned home honorably in 1956. He then met and married his one true love Doris Nisonger on December 26, 1958. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 11, 1959. Together they raised four children, Shannon A (Bruce M) Brailsford, Mandeville, LA, Cheryl A. LaSalle, West Jordan, UT, Darla Alsop, Salt Lake City, UT and Bradley Hugh Alsop (deceased December 19, 1975). He then attended Brigham Young University where he received his BA degree in 1960. He had many skills from his Engineering work to three very successful businesses. He was a man of many talents and abilities. He was equally adept at fixing a bicycle, planting a garden or starring in a lead role of a local production of The King and I. He sang many duets with his sweetheart and we were lucky to hear his beautiful voice on many occasions. He and his wife were members of The Oratorio Society of Utah. Beyond their yearly Christmas Concert in the Salt Lake City Tabernacle they traveled to various places including Israel and Canada. He worked at HK Systems Inc. as a Project Engineer and retired as an Account Manager in 1997. After a long and painful battle he is now at peace and reunited in the loving arms of all of those who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife Doris N. Alsop; children and five grandchildren: Daniel Jacobs, Linnea, Alyssa, Brian and Laura Brailsford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 am at the Mountainview Ward, 5980 S 1300 W in Taylorsville. A viewing will be held on Friday April 26th from 6-8:00pm at McDougal Funeral Home,4330 S Redwood Road and Saturday April 27th from 10:00-10:45am at the church prior to services.
