Ina Mabella Calton Gilbert, 90, passed away on September 12, 2022, in Burley, ID.
Ina was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and lived her early years in Cedar Fort, Utah where she loved to play with her cousins, and developed a great love of reading. When Ina was in the third grade, she moved to Lehi, Utah, where she lived near the public library and would go almost daily to read and check out books. Ina met Wesley (Bob) Gilbert when she was attending Lehi High School where she graduated with honors. They married on November 3, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was a true love story. Ina and Bob were blessed with 12 children. Ina was a good mom and loved each child and grandchild as they came along.
Ina was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church callings and enjoyed genealogy work. She loved working with the Cub Scouts and influenced many young boys. Ina loved teaching her children and grandchildren good values and set a good example for them to follow. Ina's life was characterized with service. She was happy to help family and others who were in need. In her 80's, she was baking banana bread and taking it to sisters she visit taught at church. Ina and Bob lived in Provo Utah, Farson Wyoming, Riverton, Utah, Malta, Idaho, Salt Lake City, Utah and Burley, Idaho.
Ina is survived by her husband of 71 years, Wesley (Bob) Morris Gilbert and her children; Janie (Don) Homer, Margie (Rick) Neff, Vickie (Randy) Seders, Wesley Kay (Linda) Gilbert, Susan Gilbert , Pauline (Owen) Vaughan, Lisa (Jerry) Bankhead , Maryann (Ben) Golightly , Barbara Tew - Peter (Audra) Gilbert , Beverly Gilbert, Sam (Elizabeth) Gilbert; 44 Grandchildren, 89 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Iris (Denny) Routh and Ileen (Terry) Sanders as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ina is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mable Irene Calton Cox; son Matthew Gilbert; son-in-law, David Tew; and 3 grandchildren, Jimmy Golightly, Jessica Seders and Holly Homer. Her brother, Grant Cox also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM. at the Westwood Heights 1st Ward Church building, 3976 West Dimrall Drive, Kearns, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 6:00 -8:00 pm at the McDougal Funeral Home 4330 S Redwood Road Taylorsville, Utah and at the church prior to the funeral from 10:00-10:45 AM. Interment will be at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
