Irene Margaret Wake passed away on a beautiful Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Irene was truly special and easy to love. She was born in North Platt, Nebraska on Feb 26, 1927 as the youngest of three daughters to John Oestreich and Marie Elizabeth Kufitich. Irene began playing the piano at age 6 and was involved in instrumental and vocal groups through her school years. She attended the University of Colorado Boulder where she majored in piano and organ. It was there that she met her eternal sweetheart Benjamin Franklin Wake, the son of Catherine Eula Hill. They were married on Dec 19, 1948. The marriage was latter solemnized in the LDS Idaho Falls temple on August 24, 1956. They lived and served in Helena MT for over 30 years where Irene was the organist, pianist, accompanist or choir director for her LDS church. She also played for other churches in the city. After her husband retired, they moved to the Salt Lake City area to be closer to their children (and get out of the cold winters). Ben and Irene are the parents of four children: John Benjamin, Catherine Marie (Greg Mockel), Hazel Anne (Ken Chorniak) and Paul Cody. They have 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters: Dora Fuehrer and Anne Severn. Her finals days were made so much easier by the incredible staff of the Beehive Home in Provo, UT as well as the kindness and attention shown by the First Choice Home Health and Hospice staff: Beverly Dow, Ann Willardson and Gabby Cook. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14th at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville UT at 11:00 am with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45. Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine St., Murray, UT. Place of Birth:North Platt, NebraskaPlace of Death:Provo, Utah
