Iris Muriel Cresser came into this world on April 11, 1926, in the beautiful city of Brisbane, Australia. She was born to Gladys Lenton and grew up as the middle child, surrounded by the love of two older brothers and two younger sisters. She and her siblings spent countless hours climbing trees and playing at the beach.
As she entered her teenage years, Iris took on various jobs, including assisting a photographer in retouching photos and working for the U.S. Post Office in Australia during WWII where she met and married Charles Sallee (later divorced). Life eventually led her to move to Temple View, New Zealand with her two teenage daughters. After a couple of years, she made another big move, this time to Vancouver, Canada, before finally settling in Utah, United States, to be closer to her daughters and their families. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Department of Public Safety.
Iris had a passion for travel and explored many countries, soaking in the beauty and diversity of the world. Her love for history, the Royals, and archaeology was evident to all who knew her, as she could effortlessly recall dates and names of significant events.
At home, she found joy observing the birds and flowers that graced her yard. In her leisure time, Iris found great pleasure in watching tennis, bowling, and horse racing, always rooting for the gray horse to take the lead.
On May 18th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, Iris peacefully passed away, leaving behind an incredible legacy.
Although she was preceded in death by her mother, four siblings, daughter Peta, son-in-law, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, Iris's spirit lives on through her surviving daughter Pauline, seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and their spouses. Her remarkable life continues to be celebrated by those whose lives she touched.
As per her wishes, Iris's family will scatter her ashes in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, California. A celebration of life will be held locally at a later time.
