Iris Martinez, 79, Taylorsville, passed away March 20, 2017 at her home, surrounded by loved ones of natural causes. Born August 19, 1937 In San Turce, Puerto Rico to Agustine Lopez and Felicita Diaz. Mom came to Utah in 1957. She met the love of her life, Manuel (Manolo) Martinez and they were married May 17, 1958 in Copperton, Utah. She worked for Jordan School District as a Teacher's Aid, where she loved the children and they loved her. She worked various jobs finally retiring from Warner Lambert in 1990. She was very artistic in crocheting, flower arranging and other crafts. She was a very good cook. Together with Manuel, she raised six children who were the light of her life. She could be found on Saturday mornings, dancing in the livingroom with her Maracas, the broom or even just a dish towel. With loving gratitude, her family would like to express our thanks to the South Valley Dialysis team for their tender care of our mom. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; and eldest son Hector. Survived by children: Sandra McMann (the late Bryce Adamson), Danny (Shelli), Iris Monica McDonald (Todd), Renee Ricks (Troy), Miguel (Stefani); 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Wednesday, March 22nd, 6-8:00 p.m. and again prior to services from 1-1:45 p.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
