Dr. J C Clayde Christensen passed peacefully at the age of 82 on May 12th surrounded by his 9 children: Marilyn Hall(Dennis), Cheryl Gardiner(Vance), Vance, Darrin(Karla), Brad, Mindy Pierce(Kevin), Melanie Nielson(Brek), Jenny McIver(Ian), David, 28 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren whom he was very proud of, even though he would never admit it. J C was a Dentist in the Navy and served dutifully until honorably discharged, after which he didn't miss being bossed around. Civilians will recognize him best as Dr. Chris who spent his days "down in the mouth" for 43 years in West Valley City. His family knew him as an avid golfer, game player and bridge teacher who had long entertaining stories, which he loved to repeat often. He wasn't one for sentiment or religiosity but if you find him in heaven, he will be leading a hymn at tempo in his deep voice with a joke at the ready in much the same way as he did in 12 seasons singing with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir. Honest to a fault, he was raised to be a hard worker by Rhea Wood and JP Christensen who preceded him in death. He leaves 5 loving siblings and his devoted wife of 41 years, Ellen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16th, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Taylorsville 23rd Ward Building, 4932 South 3200 West, Taylorsville Utah. Viewings will be held Tuesday, May 15th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, and from 9-10:30 a.m., Wednesday morning at the church. Interment at Fielding City Cemetery after services. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Salt Lake Donated Dental Clinic at 1383 South 900 West, #128, SLC, UT 84104.
