J. Holt Wardle
1929-2023
J. Holt Wardle, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home on November 10, 2023, from complications incident to age, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Lowell and LeMar Wardle on November 27, 1929, in his Grandparents home in Vernal, Utah. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1948 and immediately went to work for Chevron Pipeline.
He married his forever sweetheart, Dana Lay in the Salt Lake Temple on January 9, 1951. He served in the US Army from June 1951 to 1953, stationed in Alaska. He then moved his family back to the Uintah Basin until February of 1960 when he was relocated to Kearns, Utah where he lived out his life and raised his family. He retired from Chevron Pipeline in 1992.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings throughout his life including Bishop of the Kearns 13th ward from 1978 to 1987. He and his loving wife Dana served their mission in the Manchester New Hampshire mission from 1993 to 1994. They enjoyed their time working in the Jordan River Temple from 1995-2002.
He and Dana loved traveling and would always be at the family reunion, every year, in their trailer ("How do you like your eggs?"). They also enjoyed their cross-country road trips and cruises with their dear friends. He loved people, especially the youth, and served everyone that he knew with his whole heart.
Survived by his loving wife Dana; Children; Jone (Mike) Richardson from Kearns, Jay (Bonnie) Wardle from West Valley City, and Janice (Boyd) Peterson from Vernal, Utah. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Oma Wardle, Gwen Reynolds, and Myrna Harrison, brother Billy Wardle, and granddaughter Wendy Peterson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Kearns East Stake Center 4715 S. 4300 W. There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McDougal Funeral Home, located at 4330 S. Redwood Road. Another viewing will be held from 10:00 - 10:45, before the funeral services at the church.
