Jack C. Cowan Cliff Our dear father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Jack Clifford Cowan, passed away May 27, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. Born November 17, 1917 to Sidney Floyd and Marie Thorne Cowan in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second oldest of three children. At the age of 23 Jack enlisted in the US Army and served in WWII where he was stationed in Alaska in the Aleutian Islands. On November 14, 1944 he married Esther Carlston and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had five children. Together they served at Temple Square. Dad was a fireman and a school bus driver for Granite District. He had a love for hunting, fishing, camping and animals. He had the best sense of humor and loved to tell stories. He was never afraid to speak his mind or give you his opinion. His mind was as sharp as a tack, right up to the day he passed. Dad loved everybody and was always sharing his love. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by parents; 2 brothers; wife and daughter, Penny. Survived by children: Jack C. (Vickie) Cowan Jr, Joe Cowan (Davy), George Cowan and Deanna (Cal) Hansen; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank those who cared and took care of Dad, especially his angels, Frieda, Paola and Isabel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the East Millcreek 16th Ward, 3408 South Celeste Way (3120 E.). Viewings will be held Friday, June 3, 2011, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
