James Lile Johnson
James Lile Johnson left this world on August 6, 2023 in Midvale, UT after a valiant fight with cancer at the age of 67.
Jim was born August 18, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kay and Bee Johnson. He was the fourth of eight children. He graduated from Skyview High School in 1973 and went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints in Chile from 1975 to 1977.
Shortly after returning from his mission in 1977, he was introduced to the love of his life, Pamela Bennett. They were married on February 9, 1978 and had six children together.
Jim then attended Utah State University, where he earned a degree in audio engineering in 1982. He spent the bulk of his adulthood traveling the country installing and fixing audio equipment in church buildings and temples. This job took him to every U.S. state, Mongolia, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Canada, and Mexico. He loved his work.
When he wasn't traveling, he was serving others. It could be helping people move, cleaning up yards, or looking for the latest music for DJ gigs. Jim loved music. He played multiple instruments, enjoyed singing, and listened to all genres.
Jim was very personable and had a great sense of humor. He could not go anywhere without running into someone he knew, and would never leave without telling a joke or two.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pam, children Christine Coon (George), Bennett Johnson, Trisha Dowdle (Jason), Melissa Alexander (Nathan), Amanda Wilkins (Benjamin), and Hallee Johnson, as well as 18 grandchildren and 6 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kay and Bee, and sister, Betty Jean Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Midvale North Stake Building, 97 West 7500 South, with a viewing prior to the services from 9:30-10:45 am, also at the church.
