James Richard Godfrey

James R. Godfrey Rockin in Paradise James Richard Godfrey passed away peacefully in his home Monday afternoon, February 27, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born March 19, 1961 in Seattle, Washington. He spent most of his years growing up in Shelburne,Vermont with his parents, Edward L. and D. Jean Godfrey; along with his brothers, Kerry Clawson (Susan) and Jeffrey Godfrey (Kelly). In his junior year of high school he moved to the then Granger area, Utah, where he graduated with the class of 1979 from Granger High School. He studied Computer Science and physics at the University of Utah. He worked as a Computer Consultant for many years. He knew computers well and could fix anything. He married Cynthia Johnson in June, 1984. They had two sons, Jeremy Ryan and Zachary Lee Godfrey; they later divorced. On August 9, 2010 he had found and married his soul mate, Lynnette Gallagher and became the stepfather to Patrick Gallagher and Amber Gallagher-Cluff. Jim loved cooking, camping, swimming, golf, chess, taking pictures, going to concerts, music and making people laugh. He was friendly to everyone and always stopped people walking with big dogs to love on them. His first loves were his electric guitars and playing music. He was a fantastic musician and could pick up and play any song. He played with several bands and musicians over the past 30 plus years and had the greatest of respect for all of them. Jim leaves behind his wife, parents, sons, brothers, stepchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. We love and miss you Jim. Until we meet again, we know you are Rockin in Paradise.... A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012, 12 - 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. Jim has chosen to be cremated.
