Jamie Gay Turnbow, cherished daughter of Gwenda Oberhansly and Lynn Turnbow, was born September 5,1972, to Maxie Bierwolf. Jamie was adopted into her loving family at 13 months of age.
As a child Jamie loved playing sports; baseball and soccer were her favorites. She enjoyed water skiing with her family during trips to Lake Powell. Riding horses and causing mischief with her cousins and brother in Tabiona at her grandparents house was always a favorite pastime of hers. As a young adult her passion was riding motorcycles and driving semi-trucks over the road. She was passionate about helping other women succeed in that field, one of the first woman trainers for other women.
Jamie lived out loud, loved life, her friends and family, connecting with people and all the kids who she had the honor of driving to and from school for the last 13 years of her life.
Jamie always was strong in mind and body, fought for LGBT rights in her 20's, worked hard to keep a home and yard that would be welcoming and inviting for friends to gather and celebrate life together.
Jamie loved to travel, including a memorable trip to Fiji as a teenager, so many camping trips, a cruise to Alaska with Deb and other friends, taking the camper for a two and a half week honeymoon around Oregon, visiting friends and family on East, West, and Florida coasts, and her final hoorah BFF trip to Munich, Germany last summer.
A few months after discovering she had three biological siblings, Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, and learned she had a gene mutation (Li Fraumeni Syndrome) that was passed on from her biological mother's family. As a result, in 2022, Jamie was found to have leiomyosarcoma which progressed until the end of her life.
For her biological brother, after he tested positive for the gene mutation, Jamie was able to contribute her DNA to genetic mapping which led to the birth of his baby without that cancer gene mutation.
Jamie is survived by her loving wife of 9 years, Deborah Rosenberg, and their canine kids Oscar, Ryker, and Tucker.
She is survived by her parents, her nieces Lacy (Jake) Preslar, Tiffany (Justin) Anderson, and Lisa (Randon) Singer, biological siblings Jes Pugeau, Josh (Summer) Pugeau, and Matt Bergstrom, nephews Luke, Mark, Thane, Donovan, Max, and Ripton.
She was preceded in death by her older brother Cory Turnbow, who was her hero growing up, and with whom Jamie looks forward to a reunion.
