Janice Lee Jones Snider

July 7, 1952 — February 2, 2016

Janice Lee Jones Snider 7/7/1952 - 2/2/2016 Janice Lee Jones Snider passed away Tuesday evening after a long struggle with illness. She was a loving mother, doting grandmother, and devoted friend. Giving service was her motto throughout her entire life, whether it was sharing a meal, lending a smile, tending children, or various other ways she found to help in the community. She completed an LDS mission to the Bolivia, La Paz Mission. She served nearly a decade on the Kearns Town Council. For many faithful years she volunteered on the board of the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center and was instrumental in bringing the 2002 Winter Olympics to Salt Lake City. Above all, she dedicated her life to raising her five children. She had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to share the Gospel with all she came in contact with. She was an avid reader and sports fan and was able to instill at least the former passion in her children. She was a talented cook, piano player, and seamstress. Her extended illness took these talents away from her, but these were losses that she faced with a humility and grace that inspired those around her. She had a beautiful singing voice that was also taken from her in the last years of her illness, but has now been restored to her in full. We know she is enjoying this next part of her service with her family and friends, making music and sharing the Gospel. Special thanks go out to the residents and staff of City Creek Post Acute Care. They were her beloved friends and a great strength to her in the last few years of her life. She is survived by a brother, Kevin; three sisters, Christine, Denise, and JaNeen; five children, Stacy, Marjorie (Scott), David, Todd (Mara), and Betsy; and grandchildren: Jacob, Alex Shayne, Addison, Gabriel, Donovan, and Daniel Joy. She was preceded in death by her father, Leland; mother, Marjorie; and brother Eric. Words cannot express what she meant to those who knew her. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and many special memories made here on earth. She has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at the LDS Cougar Lane Chapel, 5823 South 4800 West (Cougar Lane) on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow.
