Jared West Mackay

Jared West Mackay was born on January 2, 1973 in Salt Lake City to Dean and Cindy Mackay. He was married to Alyssa Larsen on January 15, 2015 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died on September 27, 2016. Jared will be missed by his surviving wife, Alyssa Larsen Mackay; mother Cindy Mackay; brothers Clint (Paige), Bret (Risa); and sister Shelese (Ryan). Jared had five children from previous marriages: Alexis (Rory), Niesa, Stockton, Adelynn, and Carter. He will also be missed by the numerous others who knew and loved him. Jared West Mackay was truly a great and valiant man. In his 43 years, he fought courageously against all odds. On September 27, 2016, he finally succumbed to his struggles, but not before giving all he had to give. In a life cut too short, he filled it with excitement, love, hope and courage. Never a day went by that he did not lift others and reach his hand out for their benefit despite his own struggles. His excitement and zest for life showed every day in his snapchats, infectious laugh, constant joking and his love for rock and roll. His love of the mountains and hiking, or camping at Black's Fork won't be forgotten. Nor his enthusiasm for baseball, cars, motorcycles and hot sauce. He was the best kind of friend a person could have. Jared's absence will leave the world a darker place. Nothing will ever take his place in the hearts of those he knew. Godspeed my friend, my brother. May we meet again in Heaven. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Briarwood Chapel, 3751 South 2200 West, West Valley City, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, October 2nd from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and again prior to services at the church Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
